So, if you read my previous article on how to set up a website, I am hoping you have done that by now; that is set up a brand new website, and started playing with it. But that is not enough. You would be better off creating a money making website, that attracts visitors and convince them to visit you again. That way you can balance out the cost of your hosting service, as well as having a fulfilling experience of writing about whatever you feel like.

Well, let’s say you have set up a website. Now what? Your next target is to bring as many visitors to your site as possible. For that is how you are going to be successful online marketer. Among all the things that many gurus preach about, one of the major part is played by SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you have done to your site. It should be so search engine friendly that whenever someone searches on the keywords for your niche, your website should show up on the first page. Position may not matter in the beginning. Some people have said that even tenth position is the best on the first page.

What you can do at this point is measure the performance of your website, by running some simple tests on it. Some of those are:

Backlinks: Backlinks are often used as part of a SEO (search engine optimization) strategy – search engines use the number of backlinks a site has as a measure of its popularity. Check backlinks to your site here,

PageRank: PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results.

Link Popularity: tells you how many websites are linking to yours. Website popularity is becoming extremely important, as many search engines are using this information as a ranking criterion. The more popular your site is, the better it is ranked on the search engines.

Reciprocal Link: A reciprocal link is an agreement between two webmasters to provide a hyperlink within their own website to each other’s web site. Generally this is done to provide readers with quick access to related sites, or to show a partnership between two sites. You will have viewers visit your site from clicking the reciprocal link directly. Most search engines also take into account the number of web sites which contain links to your web site.
